Top 10 Things You Need To Know This June In Boca Raton

  1. Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Theatre and Dance in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters has announced its summer lineup for Festival Repertory Theatre 2017. “Sense and Sensibility,” a play by Kate Hamill based on the Jane Austin novel, will run from Friday, June 23 through Saturday, July 22; the musical “Into the Woods” will run from Friday, June 30 through Sunday, July 30;  and a Piano Gala will be featured on Monday, June 12 at 7 p.m. All shows are in the University Theatre and Studio One Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

  3.  Boca Raton has been ranked as a “2017 Best Cities for Seniors to Retire” report by consumer research website GoodCall.com. The report reviewed data from 1,662 cities and Boca ranked No. 64.   4.  Head to the Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park to see Rockin’ Red Riding Hood presented by Atlantic Coast Theatre For Youth  on June 11. Rock along with Little Red, Grandma, Jack Lumber, and B.B. Wolf as the traditional story is updated in this “Rock Musical.” The history of Rock n’ Roll is creatively woven into the show as original songs progress through different styles—from The Blues to Modern Rock. Meet and greet with audience after both shows. The show times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.
  5.  FAU Old Time will perform a free concert in the park on Sunday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at Mizner Park. Food and beverage will b e available for purchase.
  6.  Grab your blankets and catch a screening of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on Friday, June 23 at 8 p.m. at Mizner Park. There will be a magic pre-show that begins at 7:30 p.m.

  8.  Adventure Vault has a new escape room called “Mystery of Sherlock.” The mystery begins with the disappearance of Sherlock Holmes. Only you can save him, but you are trapped. Before you can go look for him, you must solve the clues and puzzles in the room you’ve been locked in. With one hour to figure it out, players must use their brain power and team work to get out in time.
  9.  The new $14 million Gloria Drummond Physical Rehabilitation Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital is open. The 37,500 square-foot facility was created out of a lead gift from Elaine J. Wold and other philanthropic support, and is named after the Hospital’s founder, Gloria Drummond. It replaces what was formerly Boca Regional’s Davis Therapy Centers.
  10.  According to a study by FRACTL, Boca Raton uses more envious hashtags like #jealous, than any other city on Twitter.
